seeing is believing

a few months ago i did a shoot for the fashionisto magazine, new york. the theme for the issue was darkness. my thought process was pretty straight forward, darkness - blind - can't see - obstructed vision, this basically led to the end result where i styled each look with the models eyes being covered/obstructed.

i had a great team involved, josephine (who i have been trying to organize a shoot with for some time and we finally made it happen!), ryan, martin, and my homie cam who was in town visiting. The shoot turned out dope, i'm heaps happy with it.

you can pick up a copy of the new fasionisto mag at http://magazine.thefashionisto.com

sai ying pun, hong kong

it's dope when my mates come to visit me in hk, makes me feel more connected to everything that is going on back home in sydney, and of course it's good to just hang with a dude that completely knows what your about, and just talk shit.

my mate cam was here for about 3 weeks so we figured we had plenty of time to do things. of course we ran out of time and i had a few things left that i wanted to show him, a couple of bars and restaurants were skipped over, plus cam's a photographer so we wanted to organize a shoot for while he was in town. it's all good, there's always next time!

one thing that actually surprised me this time around is cam's style is getting much better, he's always had a pretty simple understated thing going on, but it's nice to see him being slightly more adventurous with prints, but also really appreciating the details and quality of well made pieces. don't get me wrong, his style remains true to himself, but there is just that added flair to it now, definitely stepping it up.
i think my favorite of his purchases on this trip would be the common projects he picked up. mono navy, just can't go wrong!

as for me, i'm definitely feeling the sports thing, i've been trying to find a plain grid iron jersey to layer during the cooler months, i finally found something with a bit more of a fashion vibe to it. it's not cooling down anytime soon though so figured, why wait!?

putting the 'g' in georgia

so i mentioned in my last post "coming up roses" that while on holiday in sydney, i pulled together a few video tests with my mate tyson. another one of these video's will feature my homegirl georgia. she's quite a character, a dope dj and i love that she's all about keeping it ghetto with her sets. she's pretty well known for her "stanky leg" and i'm sure i've seen her drop to the floor and get her eagle on more than once.

it was really cool catching up with her, was a beautiful day in north bondi, extremely windy, but the sun was out and the view was amazing! it's definitely one of the things i really miss about living in sydney.

thanks again to cam for taking these shots from the day.

view from the top

i need to explain the events of this day so you fully understand what went down. the concept was easy, something pretty commercial, sunny day, a few friends hanging out on a rooftop, a few drinks, music, just chilling and having fun, it was supposed to be a fun and easy shoot. unfortunately, it was quite the opposite, exactly what we weren't hoping for, a cloudy and rainy day (actually thunderstorms) and the extremely painful hangovers from the debauchery of the night before. so now the shoot concept changes, no more music, no more "fun" vibe and definitely no more drinks! and even no more group, we decided on solo shots so we could rest up individually between. it was a painful day, actually quite funny now that i look back.
luckily, everyone involved managed to man up and we actually produced some really nice images.

evie & tris

this is evie and trizzy. two of my homies from sydney. both of them are pretty crazy, in a good way. evie always produces amazing work and is killing it on an international level. a lot of people don't know this about my girl evie, but she is a crazy hip-hop dancer too! my homie tizzy actually dances too, wild's out all the time.

we all worked together a while back on this test shoot, and continue to do so now. we had a dope time, and ended the day with some dope mexicana.
